TWO GOOD LEGS

We Have A Winner

The game is over for one Tom Delay.

Congrats Rudy.

Although both Rudy's guess and mine were off the mark by four or five months (inspiring a bit of ribbing from Soup at CC), they were both closer than Rocky's guess, which was off by five years. And Rudy, employing the old Price is Right tactic, edged me out by a few days.

The Hammer hams it up [from the BBC] ...

"'I have done nothing wrong... I am innocent,' Mr DeLay told a press conference in Capitol Hill.

"He described the man prosecuting him, Ronnie Earle, a democrat, as an 'unabashed partisan zealot' and a 'fanatic'.

"A Congressional ethics committee has reprimanded Mr DeLay three times for what it calls objectionable behaviour.

"In the past, Mr DeLay has called the allegations against him 'fiction and innuendo' and a result of a political witch-hunt. "

To hear his most strident comments on the air was priceless.

If he is indeed dirty, he should get whacked for it. No proof has come to light as of yet and certainly no convictions. You might be right, but you're counting your chickens pretty early.

No, Rock. Our "chicken" was when he would step down, not when he would go to jail. I'm not saying he's guilty, but he has surely stepped down. Our chicken is hatched.

If he never returns to congress- you win. I concede.

GOP rules? Try House Ethics Rules that the GOP tried to change so DeLay would not HAVE to step down when he was indicted!

The GOP is labeling it "temporary" and have appointed 3 shmucks to assume DeLay's role, as well as to allow DeLay to stalk from the sidelines, so as to do their darndest to undermine the spirit of the rule. Great party you have there. Really noble.

I found it funny (in a tragic sense) how the ultra-right faction of the "Grand Old Party" over-road DeLay's and Hastert's recommendation of David Dreier as DeLay's replacement mostly on the basis that Dreier is a closet homosexual. Insert Roy Blunt.

Also, anyone else see the news about former drug czar, Department of Education head, William Bennett stating that the crime rate would go down if every black baby in this country were simply aborted. Can you imagine that Bennett said this on national radio and without his white hood on?

Wow, what an inclusive, honorable party you have there, Serial Killer.
