An Exit Strategy of Concrete and Steel
Are we building permanent bases in Iraq? Gary Hart wonders.
Any attempt to find out whether the US is, or is not, constructing permanent military bases meets with frustration. The few who have attempted to get a direct answer to this question are met with evasion and purposeful confusion over what is or is not "permanent". But this is the ultimate test of true Bush administration intentions in Iraq. If we are, in fact, constructing permanent bases, "leaving" simply means a reduction of forces and the permanent stationing of US brigades in Iraq.
So, Senator Hart - there's some anecdotal evidence for you.

this is "monkey business". ram
Talk about sending American soldiers (including my cousin) overseas to occupy a permanent base in a hostile country and the Republicans come back with their favorite topic: that guy had sex with someone other than his wife!!
I suspect that some Republicans are better than such arguments make them appear. I KNOW that RAM is.
I think I can clear things up a bit, Abe. You see, Republicans don't have sex. They don't believe in it; that's why they're so repulsed by it. They don't physically reproduce. They BUY children, using PAC funds (Pick A Child). Only white kids, mostly from Canada. (For example - the M in RAM stands for Manitoba.) Then, they turn those kids into Republicans through devious methods, all of which involve an aversion to sex and an inability to think clearly. Consequently, when anything goes wrong in the world, they blame it on Democrats having sex.
