The Central Front in the War On Christmas

This just gets funnier and funnier.

It's pretty silly what the spinners on the far right dream up to rally the wingnuts. To keep them distracted from real policy issues, they cry that LIBERALS are attacking CHRISTMAS! and MARRIAGE! and THE BIBLE! Thus allowing them to paint "progress" as teaching our children that evolution is fake, enshrining homophobia in the Constitution, and using the Jews' tax money to spread the word about Christ.

Similar stupid protests arose recently over some cities, like Boston, calling their trees "Holiday Trees" instead of "Christmas Trees." Washington, of course, buckled to the right wing: http://washingtontimes.com/metro/20051129-120703-5977r.htm

Isn't it just like the conservative Christians to get all bent out of shape on this? I mean, the Christians stole the tree to begin with. It was a solstice symbol among the Norse -- part of the winter festival. In order to "blend in," the Christians appropriated the symbol for Christmas. Now, they're all in a tizzy if it's called something other than a Christmas tree.

I'll continue to call it a "Christmas tree" until I see them being sold around the 4th of July. Why do you guys have to try to change the name of everything?

Christmas tree = Holiday tree
Happy holidays = Merry Christmas
cut & run = we win
reduction in the rate of growth in a gov't program = a CUT
liberal = progressive
buying presents for loved ones = can't also remember the reason for the "holiday" and is crass commercialism

Don't like Christmas? Then don't participate and just STFU.
