GOP to cut all funding for NPR and PBS: ACT NOW!!
The GOP is attempting to cut funding for NPR and PBS. Seriously, a house panel has voted for this cut, take a look at this Washington Post Article.
Its not too late. Moveon is sending around a petition that you can sign and send to your representative. The GOP has been trying to do this for some time and they now have the votes, and arrogance it seems, to do it. Sign the petition and if you have the time write a letter to your elected officials. Here are the links to find your representative and senator.
Whatever your politics, public television is good for America. Any person who can put partisan politics aside would surely agree with this. Don't be fooled by the GOP, they can easily fund public broadcasting but are simply appealing to hard line conservatives who see public broadcasting as another example of this "media bias" fantasy.

A total power move by a Republican Congress doing its best to retain power whatever the issue. It's a shame, though. I really don't think NPR is that liberal. Perhaps, the issues it covers are traditionally liberal social causes: environment, labor, welfare, etc.
But it does a good job at covering both sides. A case in point was the Sullivan Amendment concerning recruitment by the armed forces on college campuses.
Both the schools' position and the militaries' was equally represented. In fact, the military had the first crack at the issue.
It's too bad that the GOP is stooping to another level again-- seeking to stifle NPR's free speech through the purse strings.
Btw, welcome back 3G. You've been missed.
I caught an NPR broadcast of Bill Moyers' address in May about Ken Tomlinson, politics, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Moyers was eloquent, funny, and dead on. Here's a link, which includes other links to audio and video: http://www.afcn.org/node/204
Moyers was reacting to Ken Tomlinson's appearance on Bill O'Reilly's show: http://mediamatters.org/items/200505130006
It's a damn shame that the right-wing agenda is now targeting public broadcasting. If I thought the right-wingers were smart enough, I'd call all they're doing a conspiracy. But it takes lots of brains to make a conspiracy work. I guess it's really just an eerie combination of malevolence, stupidity, and blind luck. Johnny Piano
What the eff do these SOB Congressmen do all day? NPR and PBS aren't exactly worldly issues.
To hell with them, I'm voting straight LaRouche in '08!
NPR "not liberal"? Pass me some that crack you're slingin'. Seriously, Lefty, if the whole media were cut from NPR's cloth, you bleeding hearts would be in heaven singing kumbaya!

Klug, just because a certain media outlet speaks to an audience with a higer level of sophistication does not make it biased. But I am sure you think FoxNews is fair and balanced so there really is no point in arguing with you. Hurry, Linda Vester is covering an important car chase better tune in to figure out where you stand on the issues.....
