King James v. Air Jordan: Wouldn't that be a match up?
I was watching LeBron James play the other night and I have been simply amazed at his abilities. Seriously, he is 20 years old and dominates. I compared his statistics thus far in his short career to Michael Jordan's:
Field Goal Percentage (first 2 yrs)
James was 42% from the field in '03-'04, his rookie year, and is 49% so far this year.
Jordan, my biggest childhood idol, was 52% (that's sick) from the field in '84, his rookie year and 46% from the field in '85*.
Avg. Rebounds Per Game (first 2 yrs)
James averaged 5.5 rebounds a game last year and 7.2 rebounds a game this year.
Jordan averaged 6.5 rebounds a game his rookie year and 3.6 the following year*.
Avg. Points Per Game (first two years)
James averaged 20.0 pts a game his rookie year and 25.3 thus far this season.
Jordan averaged 28.2 (equally as sick) pts a game his rookie year and 22.7* his second season
*MJ's second season was the year he broke his foot. Factoid: MJ was the third pick in the '84 NBA Draft, Hakeem Olojuwan went first and Sam Bowie went second. Sam Who?
I like watching LeBron, he seems to be a class act and an easy going guy. The NBA needs a guy like this, especially after dealing with a guy like Kobe and the Piston and Pacers brawl. LeBron isn't full of himself, he seems to be a good guy who was raised right. Even though Jordan's first two years were a little better (assuming he would have done as well his 2nd year without the foot injury), Jordan had, I believe, 3 years with North Carolina and was 21yrs old his rookie year. LeBron was freaking 18 his rookie year and out of high school. This guy should be fun to watch for the decade to come and more importantly, he revives a little hope in me that there are still a few cool cats in professional sports. Hopefully, he will decide to restore the NBA dunk contest, but it looks like he is wavering.

SAM WHO????? Sam Bowie was one of the greatest players to ever play for the Kentucky Wildcats.
I will give you that he is not Michael Jordan, but please do not act as if he is no-name.
Sam Bowie was good in college, but for NBA performance, I'd have to agree with "Sam who?"

Who is this Steph? Is this Steph from NDLS? I once knew a Steph from Kentucky who subsequently attended NDLS, she was pretty hot. Oh, the one that got away(wiping tear away). Regardless of who you are, never, ever mention the words Sam Bowie Greatest Players in one sentence again unless there is the adverb NOT in there. Geez Steph, not even Rocky has gotten this close to being banned from 2GL. :) P.S., writing that post took me back to those glory days of MJ, that guy was special.
Dear 3GL, I'm so flattered that you still think of me . . .
First, let me say that I too believe that MJ was the Greatest Player to Ever Live. This is in large part due to the influence of my husband who could probably rival you and Abe as his biggest fans. I've never been a big fan of the NBA and I certainly am not now considering its current state fo demise. Even my husband has given up on his beloved Lakers because they have lost all sense of respect, class and love for the game.
Second, I never claimed Sam Bowie was a great NBA player, but he was a great college player and I think if you want watch people who love to play basketball for the pure joy of it, you should watch more college ball. There is nothing better for a basketball fan than being right here in Lexington, Kentucky on game day.
Ha, I thought that was you darlin' and flattery is the only game I have, rrrr self deprecation. Is 2GL turning into a love blog? Tell your hubby hello, I had the pleasure of meeting him at the ND v. Michigan game this past season (I think that was the game, but my experimentation with countless substances in my college years has now left me unsure. hey keep 2GL clean, 3GL) Kentucky? come on, but I guess you guys need something to get behind and I guess I can agree college bb in your state is a'ight
