I Don't Care If It Rains Or Freezes...
so long's I got, my torturin' Jesus.
Our new attorney general says you should thank him that you're alive.
They took me inside the building and started to scream at me. They stripped me naked, they asked me, "Do you pray to Allah?" I said, "Yes." They said, "Fuck you" and "Fuck him." ... Someone else asked me, "Do you believe in anything?" I said to him, "I believe in Allah." So he said, "But I believe in torture and I will torture you. When I go home to my country, I will ask whoever comes after me to torture you." Then they handcuffed me and hung me to the bed. They ordered me to curse Islam and because they started to hit my broken leg, I cursed my religion. They ordered me to thank Jesus I am alive. And I did what they ordered me. This is against my belief. They left me hang from the bed and after a while I lost consciousness."

You hear more and more stories just like this one and a reasonable mind would conclude that there is a problem that is clearly systematic. This problem will persist so long as our government refuses to change procedure and training. A good idea would be to dedicate a certain amount of time during basic training to educate our troops on issues of this sort. I would also require a cultural enlightenment course. Lets be truthful, a majority of our troops are uneducated folks who likely have had little experience with foreign cultures. Sort of like our president's lack of cultural enlightenment. What is truly concerning is conservatives, in the name of supporting their party and president, formulate creative arguments to "justify" torture or they argue that it is in fact not torture. In America's dual party system, I understand party allegiance is more practical than swinging. But at what point do you quietly admit to yourself that your guy is doing the wrong thing? When do you get to the point where, as a party loyalist, you quit trying to justify things that are clearly wrong and against America's ideals? When do you think people that were loyal to the Nixon Administration finally got to this "being true to self" stage? When will Bush loyalist reach this point, if ever? Will the individual's personal patriotism take them to the point where they allow torture in the name of party loyalty? Isn't this exactly what is happening when you hear the conservative pundits defending illegal torture tactics that have never been used by the US Government. Isn't this loyalty what gives rise to a conservative's belief that our voting system does not need to be overhauled to ensure that everyone who wants to vote should and that vote should be tabulated? Okay, the first conservative to argue against this comment, you are proving me right. But wait, I am wrong, right? Hurry, be creative on your argument.........
